"New Release" Second Wave

The First Edition of New Release sold out in 90 minutes, so we're extending our reverse-preorder with a Second Wave for latecomers!

As with the First Edition, you will receive a New Release LP on yellow vinyl a full month before the album's wide release. You will still get the extra computer candy: an audio commentary MP3, behind-the-scenes videos, and a selection of never-before-shared files in a password-protected ZIP folder.

This Second Wave is not hand-numbered, there are fewer stickers on the outside of the record, and the password is not individually-sealed in a weird little envelope. The selection of interesting files is also slightly different.

The album will not be released on streaming platforms until August 23rd, 2024. This Metalabel exclusive "reverse-preorder" is physical-only.

New Release is the first studio album from YACHT in five years. Recorded at their home in Los Angeles, the album is a slice of sly post-pop, playfully occupying a parallel timeline somewhere between 1983 and infinity. YACHT are new wave radio rejects; perpetual outsiders; canny observers; dreamer-prophets who average seven years ahead of their time. On New Release, they write about what they know: bubbles in the bathtub, shopping at Sprouts, dissociating while watching TV, side-eyeing the bots, suffering fools, and surveilling half-empty malls, looking for something real. It all comes together in a frisky, genre-transcending opus as formally experimental as it is butt-bumpingly fun.
